Peake Telegraph Station Ruins.
Marvel at the isolation of the people that lived and worked here building and operating the Overland Telegraph Line.

Algebuckina Waterhole, situated on the Neales River this waterhole played an important part in opening up the outback, the explorers, the overland telegraph, the Ghan Railway, the early pioneers and cattlemen all relied on this welcome site.

Farina (latin for flour) was the original Ghan railhead before moving on to Marree.

The Historical Copper Mining town of Blinman is the highest town in South Australia.
Travel through the beautiful Parachilna Gorge from Parachilna to Angorichina to Blinman. Return to Parachilna via the Glass Gorge road.
Visit "Chocolate Rock Hill Lookout".

The " Old Ghan Heritage Trail" follows the original Great Northern Railway line from Port Augusta through Pichi Richi Pass to Quorn and on to Hawker, Beltana, Farina, Marree, William Creek, Oodnadatta, Finke and on to Alice Springs. Dave Burge's Back of Beyond Tours "Old Ghan Heritage Trail" tagalong tour follows the old railway with a few interesting diversions to take in some of the sights along the way.

The "Great Northern Railway" route runs adjacent to the Flinders Ranges from Quorn to Copley, then passes throught the Lake Eyre basin, it became known as one of the Great Train Journeys of the world, later known as the "Old Ghan Railway".

Beltana is the town that refuses to die, it has a chequered past, from a mining support town to a telegraph repeater town, to a Ghan Railway town to a mission town (the Rev. John Flynn's first outback posting).

Curdimurka Siding, Lake Eyre South, site of the famous bi-annual "Curdimurka outback Ball". The site was purchased and maintained by the Ghan Preservation Society.
It was from near here that John Mc Douall Stuart left on his epic exploring journeys.

The Ghan guage changing station of Marree, here the Ghan passengers changed trains to the original narrow guage line. Old engines are displayed here imn an open air museum.
